It really just doesn't seem possible that Samantha can already be 5 years old. When I look at Claire I can so clearly remember Samantha at these early stages and it seems like YESTERDAY!
But she is 5 and she is beyond excited about it. Because 5 year olds go to kinder! Pays and I have been touring Wake County elementary schools like it is our new hobby. When we come home from a tour we usually tell her the high points about the school. She has been very excited to hear about all of the different options. She is unusually excited about being able to do homework and has been asking Senora Claudia to send some work home for her to do with us (am I really ready for this??).
Samantha's actual birthday was actually on Thanksgiving (Thanksbiving as she calls it) this year. We celebrated at her school a week early and then had her party at Gym Carolina on Sunday before Thanksgiving. This was our first off site birthday party and I have to say that I am a fan. Entertaining the kids is often the hardest part of the party and that was completely taken care of. The kids all seemed to enjoy the gymnastics together. The highlight for Samantha was running on the parachute to pop bubbles with her friends. Nonni was super sweet and made Frozen themed cake pops that were DE-licious and a hit with the kids. After the party we had family over for dinner and Samantha opened her gifts then. It was a really nice day overall. Being able to separate the kid play time from the family together time (in my opinion) made the whole experience more enjoyable. That night we talked a lot about how many nice friends she has and how much her family loves her. It was very sweet.
Samantha's actual birthday did not get lost on Thanksgiving. We celebrated with more cake pops and a few more gifts. Having your birthday on one of the best holidays of the year, it just doesn't get much better.
