Ventura, CA trip

On January 29th we headed to California to visit our family and friends for the first time since we moved. It was one of the easiest vacations that we have ever taken! The kids were amazing on the flights and were champs on days that they missed naps. We had the distinct advantage of living there for 5 years and we had very specific parks, beaches and restaurants that we were dying to get back to. The weather was amazing for the majority of the time and brought back so many great memories. It was like stepping back in time with slightly older kiddos.

We rented a super cute cottage in Pierpont with the Flanashaws. It was great to see Tim & Elizabeth again and to meet sweet Caelum who is the best baby ever. The kids loved having a buddy to entertain and check in on. Henry was always very concerned if he got up from a nap and Caelum and Elizabeth were gone. "Mommy! Baby Cayum not here! Where he go?" The house had a surprisingly generous backyard and the kids had a great time playing hide and seek in the bushes. We also had bunk beds in our room and they had the best time climbing up and down and inventing all sorts of games to play on the top bunk.

It was great to reconnect with our Ventura friends and family who still live there. Our dinner group buds had a belated breakfast for dinner birthday celebration for Pays and Henry at Grace's house. It was an amazing dinner (of course!) and so fun to gab and joke as a group again.

We were sad to leave Ventura (but not LA) and look forward to getting back there again. There is so much to do for kids of all ages. Samantha really could appreciate that we were somewhere different but significant and told perfect strangers at the park and in the airport that she was born in California and learned to crawl there.

Thanks for a fun visit Ventura peeps-we hope to be back in 2014!

A fun activity at the SB Zoo...
