Henry at age 2 years

Oh, I can't believe our sweet baby Henrys is now such a little boy! It has been so fun to watch him grow. I wish I could freeze my sweet boy in the stage forever. Buuuut, since that is not possible here are a few things that I want to remember about my Henrys at this stage....

What is Henry into these days? Dinosaurs and baby dolls! He is in this fun transition stage right now where he still wants to do everything that Samantha does but he is beginning to develop his own interests. He and Samantha love to play with their babies and a common line that you will hear from Henry throughout the day is, "My baby seepin', you don't wake her up." After the baby is put to sleep he will turn and promptly bodyslam his inflatable dinosaur. He has this funny angry dinosaur voice that he uses when he is playing or he wants to emphasize a point. It is so funny! He is doing a lot more imaginative play and does great playing solo when Samantha is at school.

He is still an amazing eater and will gobble down pretty much anything that you give him. Some of his favorites are cew-yal (cereal), salchichas (chicken sausage), chicken drumsticks, tofu, kiwi and fresas. He is doing a great job drinking from a cup and I recently cleaned all of the sippy cups out of the kitchen. Yay! Buh-bye!

The boy has some funny sayings these days. When we ask him if we should do certain things he will reply, "You may." When I ask him if I can read to him he often replies, "Yes, Mommy, you may read it youself" which means please read to me. Henry loooves his cousin William and asks frequently when he is going to play with 'Ye-min' again.

Henry has recently given up snuggling with his baby (lovey) at night in favor of Winnie the Pooh. It was an abrupt transition and we aren't really sure how or why it happened. He went through a 3-4 day period where he cried a lot at night when we put him down in his crib even with his baby in it. Having a pillow and a nightlight seem to have helped. He also wanted all non-essential stuffed animals out. Maybe he was having bad dreams that involved animals? Not sure but we seem to have moved past it. But don't forget the sip of water (just a yittle bit) and to 'cober' him up!

Henry and Samantha are both very into puzzles these days and we have done all of the puzzles that we own hundreds of times. This is not an exaggeration! Please be prepared to sit on the wood floor, not the rug, and work on a puzzle if you stop by. The new dinosaur floor puzzle is a current favorite and Henry does a great job getting some pieces together on his own.

Henry also loves to read. Some of his current favorites are "Little Blue Truck," "Listen, Listen," "If You Give a Pig a Party," and "Billy Twitters and his Blue Whale Problem." He and Samantha will both sit with books and "read" outloud by talking through the pictures that they see on the pages. It is soooo sweet! Henry is a chatterbox these days and will talk non-stop when playing by himself. (See dino video below)

He is my snuggler and I hear several times throughout the day, "Mommy, can I sit in your yap?" He has a hard time sitting and singing before bed at night without interrupting about 100 times. We mostly sit and snuggle and chat about the day. He still requests Fwosty the Toeman for a song and he can spot the tiniest of snowman in a book or on an advertisement when we are out and about. He fwosty PJs are by far his favorites these days. For the first week that we had them it was such a struggle to get them off his little body in the morning but thankfully we have moved past that as well.

Henry is also our grace police and reminds us at almost every meal that we need to "say pray." He will volunteer to say what he is thankful for which is usually what is in his direct line of sight...Mommy, Banta (Mantha), Poppy, plate, eggies...

He is a stubborn little guy! We are working hard on not saying 'No' to Mommy and Poppy and he has to be reminded several times a day that that word is not an appropriate response to a request from us. He will also get fixated on doing or having something and has a hard time recovering from not being able to do or have something. A few weeks ago he wanted to play in the garage after lunch which is a great option before nap. However, he did NOT want to wear shoes while he was outside which is not an option. Sadly, we had a 45 struggle about wearing shows outside vs playing inside without shoes. So many times Pays and I have said to each other, "Why won't he just let this go???" Overall I would say his behavior is very good and the struggles are age appropriate. So interesting how different he is from Samantha in the behavior department.

We love our Henrys and are looking to watching him grow over this next year!
