May is moving month!

May is here and we are busy getting ready for our move from CA to NC! Our house is in the process of being packed up and we cannot believe the STUFF that we have accumulated over the past 5 years. We had a yard sale 2 weeks ago and were able to get rid of a lot of things but there is still much that remains. (It is amazing what people will buy...half used tubes of toothpaste, rusted out yard items, used dish gloves...the yard sale crowd is an interesting one).

So these are our plans over the next few weeks...

Our last day at Santa Paula Medical Clinic will be Friday May 13th. We have slowly been saying goodbye to our patients over the past few months. Some of them we have known since residency and followed us to SP once we graduated. We will miss them and are grateful for what we have learned from them as patients and as people. We will dearly miss our staff at the SPMC. The work so hard for us and take such great care of our patients.

Movers come on May 22nd! Hopefully the house will be packed and ready to go.

On Monday May 23rd we will drive to Burbank and spend the night. Popsy is flying in that night and will drive cross country starting the next day with Pays, Aspen, Bruno, Uno and Pogo. It should take about 3.5 days. Ouch! Thanks Pops!

On Tuesday May 24th Samantha, Henry and I will fly to Raleigh with the help of my parents. An adult to child ratio of 3:2 seems like good odds for a good flight but we shall see.

We are going to stay with our parents for a few weeks and will hopefully have a place to rent starting August 1st. I guess you are never to old to crash with your parents! Even if you are bringing your 2 kids, dogs and cats!

We are working with locums companies to find work in the Raleigh area initially and then will be expanding our search to check out other areas in NC. It has been an interesting process so far and hopefully we will be able to find steady work.

We are sad to leave our life here in sunny CA! We had a great residency experience and an even better almost 2 year run at SPMC and VCMC/SPH ERs. Our 2 beautiful children were born here and we love our family doctor. We will dearly miss our friends and family and our favorite family places. But, we are so looking forward to lots of family time in NC, renewing old friendships and discovering new job opportunities. We hope that our new east coast life will be a great as what we experienced here on the west coast!
