Snow Days 2016

We had a few inches of snow a couple of weeks ago and the kids were out of school for 2 days.  The "winter weather" started out as freezing rain and then turned to snow so it was perfect sledding conditions.  Samantha and Henry surprised us this year with their tolerance for staying out in the cold weather.  In years past they have only stayed out for 15-20 minutes at a time.  This year Henry was outside for about 6 HOURS one day with only a brief break for hot cocoa.  Samantha stayed out for 2-3 hours at a time between breaks.  They had so much fun sledding with neighbors and exploring the snow and ice covered yards.  So many neighbors were outside enjoying the weather; the kids always had a buddy to explore with.

Pays loved the sledding opportunity and he found many good hills in our neighborhood including our street and a cul de sac off our street.  He figured out how to get a 45 second ride the first day and the kids did it with him over and over again.  We also had some fun runs down some of our neighbors' steeper driveways.  They were so gracious in letting us play for hours and never fretted about someone potentially getting hurt.  Claire definitely was not as much of a fan of the cold but she was a trooper and enjoyed the sledding with Pays and the big kids.  We are all hoping for a few more snow days this season!
