Claire at 6 months

Pays said the other day, "What did we do to deserve this little angel?"  I couldn't agree more.  At six months she is just the sweetest little bear we have ever met.

Sister Bear is loving being able to sit on her own and she has started walking her hands out tying to be more mobile.  Samantha and Henry love to play music and dance around in the upstairs playroom after breakfast.  Claire gets TICKED if we do not take her up there immediately to be part of the action, she will start to squeal and cry.  She loves to sit on the twin bed, play with toys and watch the big kids fly around.  They are really great with her and have a good understanding of safe and unsafe toys for her.

She is making some progress with solids.  In the beginning she would thrust her tongue out and let them drip off, looking at us like we were aliens.  Now she will take 5-6 bites of pureed fruits/veggies and will swallow them.  She will still thrust her tongue in and out but it is less in protest, seems more from curiosity and trying to move the food around in her mouth.  We tried a puff and a small chunk of banana, instant choking.  Will wait on those.

She is taking about 80/20 formula to breast milk right now.  My supply is down and during the day the girl just cannot be bothered to stay latched for more than a few seconds, even if we are in a dark room with the door closed.  If she knows the big kids are in the house the game is already over.  She still nurses well first thing in the am and right before sleep.  I am still pumping at work and getting 3-5 ounces so we will keep going as long as we can.

Sleep overall is going much better.  She is down to 2 solid naps.  She is usually up between 7:00a and 8:00a and is ready to nap at 10:00.  If we are out and she has to nap in her carrier she will only sleep 30-40 minutes.  Her afternoon nap is usually 2:00-4:00, sometimes longer based on what we have done that day.  She is doing a great job self soothing and crying is down to less than 5 minutes.  She likes to be able to put her pacifier in when she needs it but other times it is tossed across the crib when we come to get her.  She definitely likes to self soothe with her hands and she will grab and knead a blanket that we lay over her chest and legs.  She looooves to sleep in a sleep sac, a new item to me!  I had no idea they existed!

We are very close to switching her to a true carseat, not because she is bigger but because she is dying to be seated and not reclining.  She can hear Samantha and Henry but she cannot see them well.    Refer back to the second paragraph...

Claire's overall stage is just happiness right now.  She is just happy to be able to participate in our family life more and to explore new sights, sounds and textures (her favorite toys right now are our kitchen utensils!).  Her happiness is contagious, it is a fun time for all of us right now.

Samantha and Henry just love when they discover a new way to make Claire laugh

Sweet girl is just happy to be in the mix, even if her toys get taken from her
