Fun outing at Falls Lake

After going to Falls Lake after the triathlon we were excited to go back with both kids to let them play on the paddle board and work on their swimming skills. Another adventure in parenting...morning sites to access the lake that are not in direct sun are a bit more difficult to find. The kids were feeling challenged by a short hike to a launching spot and then frustrated by the shore being fairly muddy instead of sandy. THEN there were a fair amount of water bugs on the surface which greatly concerned Samantha. After about 20 minutes of crying/whining we decided to move straight to lunch and ate on the paddle board. Everyone had a chance to calm down and regroup. Round 2 was much better and both kids did a fair amount of jumping off the board and sat patiently while we took turns paddling them around. They also had a lot of fun throwing rocks at a sandy part of the shore. After about an hour we declared our outing a success and headed to Taylor's for a special treat.

It was so fun to sit on the rocking chairs and watch the cars come and go. The orange sherbet pops brought back fun memories for both Pays and I of favorite ice cream treats from when we were kids.

Henry was a bit messy by the time he finished his ice cream. What a fun summer day!
