Oh, our sweet Manfers is getting so big! I sneak in her room every night before I go to sleep and I am always amazed at how big she looks in her big girl bed.
Language: With Henry just learning how to talk I think I am more aware of the progress Samantha has made in terms of her language. She is ALWAYS listening to us and I hear funny sayings from her daily that I know she heard from us. For example, she put Henry in time out this morning for pushing her. He willingly went thinking it was a fun new game. :) She also asks us, "What's that name?" about 100 times a day. She has a hard time with a few sounds...Cs are Ts "betuz" instead of "because" and Ls are still Ws "a yittle bit Mommy." She LOVES to sing and can sing quite a few songs without our help, "No (hand up) I do it myself Mommy." She also loves music and "Return to Pooh Corner" by Kenny Loggins is repeatedly requested when we are in the car. She is doing very well with her Spanish comprehension, but we have noticed her rebelling against the language recently. Sometimes she refuses to say Poppy and calls Payson "Daddy". Fortunately we know it is part of her "feeling out" her surroundings...but we also know she needs to be around kids and others speaking the language for her to flourish.
Activities: Samantha loves doing activities with her cousins and Thursdays are definitely her favorite day of the week. With the warmer temperatures we have been swimming more recently and we are impressed by how confident she is in the water. She does great with her float on and will kick herself out to deeper water and back with minimal assistance. Samantha is also doing great on her riding toys and loves to fly down the hills in our neighborhood and is quite the dare devil. Watching DVDs is probably her most requested activity and we have to limit how much she watches everyday. She is in a big "Finding Nemo" phase and loves to watch the part about the turtles. This is so funny to us since the turtles are characterized very much like surfers in their language and behaviors.
Eating: Samantha usually does a great job with meals and is a fan of both salty and sweet. She loves salted nuts and also asks for ice cream on a daily basis. She still drinks her morning and pre-sleep milk in about 30 seconds but also does a great job drinking water during the day.
Sleeping: Samantha is still doing an afternoon nap from 2:00pm until about 4:30. She has made a lot of progress waiting for us to come get her when she wakes up and calls, "Mommy, Poppy, Ven!" when she is awake. She goes down at 8:00pm and sleeps until about 6:30am. We ask her to stay un bed until 'siete' and she has her own clock that will alarm when it is the correct time to get up.
Cute behaviors: Samantha loves babies and pets and will spend a great deal of time giving them pats and kisses. When she is excited about something she will SHRIEK and it makes my hair stand on end. We are working on "Wowie"as an acceptable alternative to screaming. Samantha loves to play in our drawers and closets while Henry is sleeping and we are getting ready for an activity. She will spend 30-45 minutes rearranging our belongings and when you ask her what she is doing she replies, "I working." When you ask her to put it all back she can usually get about 90% of the things back in the right place. She is always watching what we are doing and asks, "Mommy/Poppy what you doing?" about 100 times a day too. Samantha also loves to play games: hide and seek, chase, cards and Hi-Ho Cherry-O. She is good sport and cleaning up when we are through but is frequently frustrated by Henry not helping or messing it up. :) When we say, "I love you" to her, her reply is always, "Lovey!"
