Samantha 23 months Henry 9 months

October and November are hands down my favorite months of the year and this year has not disappointed. We are finally feeling settled in NC and we are loving the fall weather and activities. We have taken the kiddos to some fun events over the past few weeks including a Harvest Festival, the NC State Fair and Fall Fest at Providence Baptist Church.

The kids are so active and are changing everyday. These are some things that I want to remember about their stages...

Samantha
New words everyday. Some recent additions: dirt, oh shoot (kind of sounds like oh sh*t!), pan, boys (pronounced booyysss but refers to children in general), bus (boy, does she get excited when she sees one!), a-choo (kind of like 'bless you'), cocoa (sound like toe-toe and is her new favorite snack), cat-y (for kitty, she looves the cats)
She loves to ride on Henry's walk behind tractor and collect leaves to put under the seat. She also loves to collect acorns which are falling from the trees like rain right now.
She is very into our Dr. Seuss board books. We read The Foot Book, There's A Wocket in My Pocket and Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You several times a day. She also really likes Goodnight Moon and loves to find the mouse.
She is very into Pooh and Mickey Mouse, thanks to Nonni. She took her Pooh doll to the playground with her the other day and he went down the slide, up the steps and on the swing with her every step of her trip.
She loves to get the mail with us and thinks that every piece is meant for the trash; which is just about true these days.
She loves to go with us on any type of trip "I go, I go" and sits in her pink chair for us to help her with her shoes and a jacket. She waits patiently on the curb while we buckle Henry into his carseat.
We are doing a Strech n' Grow class on Tuesdays at our local community center and her favorite part is running. The class is in a true gym and she loves to run across the hardwood floor from wall mat to wall mat.
Sharing has been somewhat difficult now that Henry can play with more toys. When he is playing with something of interest to her she will stand over him and say, "Turn, turn, turn" incessantly. She will sometimes try to swap out another toy for the one she wants but that is not flying with Henry these days.

Henry
Oh, this boy is into everything! He loves toilet paper and paper towels is beyond excited when he gets his mitts on some. He is good about not putting it in his mouth but will tear every piece to shreds.
He is really into books and will spend 20-30 minutes looking through board books when Samantha is napping. His favorites are the touch and feel animal books and the mirror book.
He loves to play with long, thin objects like markers hooked together, a kitchen basting brush or spatulas. He waves them around in the air and syas, "Oooohhhh!"
He loves to point at things that are interesting to him, balloons, leaves, signs, and say "Oooohhhh" with perfectly round little lips. It is so precious!
He is very into his lovey right now which is a little blue dog. He gets a lot of comfort from it and will shriek if you take it away too soon after a nap.
He loves to eat, but he is messy! He seems to be intolerant of sweet potatoes and throws up if he eats them in any form.
He loves balls! Any size will do! Dog balls, water bouncer balls, soccer balls; he will chase them all.

  1. FUUUN pictures! Henry is taking after his auntie Marty by playing in the cabinets. I used to eat cereal in them all the time! :)
