I recently realized that I have blogged very little about this pregnancy. Shoot! This in no way indicates my level of excitement about our little one soon to arrive. We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming our new addition in just 4 weeks! This pregnancy has gone by FAST!
This pregnancy has definitely been different than the last. I was more fatigued and nauseated at the beginning but both vanished almost overnight at about 12 weeks. Thanks you Gillian for the delicious ginger cookies and to Samantha for reliably napping at 9:00am for 1+ hours. Most days I wouldn't even get out of my PJs until after that nap! I have also had more aches and pains that have been annoying but have not thankfully altered our day-to-day activities much.
I was definitely showing earlier this time and I apparently look bigger than my pregnancy with Samantha. With my first pregnancy I was surprised at how kind people were remarking how little I was showing at various stages. I thought I was learning a new unwritten rule about chatting with pregnant women; 'Tell them they look great, they need to hear it.' It seemed very reasonable. So I guess I was wrong about this rule because with this pregnancy I hear almost DAILY about how big I am from friends, neighbors and even patients! No worries, I am taking all of this with a grain of salt. I am just amazed by what people will say ('Wow, you are getting huuuge!). So apparently the unwritten rule was never truly written. :)
I feel very lucky to be having a very healthy pregnancy. The baby is growing appropriately, is head down and I am already having Braxton-Hicks contractions which I never had with Samantha. Maybe I won't be late this time??
This baby seems very different from Samantha. S/he is active! Samantha was a kicker but this one is a FLIPPER! Maybe inspired from our Sea World trip?? When s/he still had enough room to flip from head down to up s/he would do so for an hour straight. Now s/he will flop side to side and stretch for up to 2 hours at a time. It's as if s/he is ready to burst out!
Many of you know that I think that we are having a boy; not because of the pregnancy differences but because I had a dream at about 7 weeks of pregnancy that I was changing the diaper of a newborn boy in our bedroom. Who knows? I had a similar dream during my pregnancy with Samantha that I had a blond haired little girl. We will be thrilled either way. Samantha of course has no clue as to what is going on other than she will occasionally pat my tummy and now has to place one leg over the top of it when I carry her!
Will keep everyone posted!
Great update! Sarah and I are giggling! Funny imagining Samantha with her leg like that! We think you look ADORABLE! Can't wait for that wiggler to be born!! We both think boy--just like Tio can't stay still...Gammy used to say he couldn't quit "pacing." Maybe this little one is just like his/her Papi!
