Oh Claire Bear! She just gets cuter and cuter as the baby in her slips away and the little girl takes over. It is bittersweet to watch the transition. Her ability to communicate and keep up with the big kids is getting better everyday but the mommy in me just wants her to stay little forever.
Her words have been SO helpful. The screaming from frustration was getting unbearable. Now we hear a lot more of, "Help please," "Up please," and "Nooooo!" She recently started responding to our "Claire?" with "What?" We all think it is hysterical and she will do it over and over to get us to laugh. When we ask her if she wants something she will often reply with a semi-interested, "Yeah." She LOVES our cats and she will chase them yelling, "Kitty, kitty!" Pogo is actually very tolerant of her petting him and she loves to snuggle with him and say, "Aw, kitty!" She is also very helpful with the dogs and likes to help feed Aspie and Bru-Bru (she says their names so clearly) and also loves to hold their leash and walk nthem. We used to try and help her but if you try and help her hold the leash she will yell at you, "NO!"
She has definitely entered into the picky eating toddler stage which can be super frustrating. Not only is she picky but when you have found a food that she seems to like it is not uncommon for her to refuse it the next day. Grrrr.... Pretty much the only fruits she will eat right now are apples, oranges (not clementines), pomegranate seeds, strawberries, pineapple and a few bites of banana. She would eat dairy all day if we let her: milk, yogurt, cheese and EGGS. She does OK with meat, it depends on her mood. She likes crackers but is not into sandwiches or toast at all.
Claire is in a really nice sleep schedule right now. She very happily goes down to nap at 12:30 and will sleep until 3:30-4:00 most days. We usually put her to bed after the big kids between 7:30 and 8:00p and she will sleep until about 6:30am. Even better than the great schedule is that she is super snuggly right before sleep and loves to lay chest to chest and sing with. She will sing along, loudly, and will throw a correct word in here and there. She loves the Mexican National Anthem (will let Pays explain that one) and she will literally start yawning if you start singing it in her room when the lights are dim.
Claire LOVES music and will start doing her signature 'Pony' dance if a fun dance song comes on. She is a bit obsessed with Wheels on the Bus and has all of the hand motions down pat.
Slow down big girl, we want to enjoy the baby for just a LITTLE bit longer!
