We have only really done pics and video on our blog so far, but that is about to change. I have enjoyed reading my sisters' written commentaries on their families' lives, so I will copy them and jot down some remembrances of our little 6 week old.
1) She is in a pretty good schedule right now (which will likely change tomorrow since I have decided to write this...please knock on wood): she feeds every 2-3h during the day and sleeps 4-5h at a time at night. She has fun awake time after each feed and then sleeps about an hour before she feeds again. This fairly predictable routine has made our life a little easier.
2) Her favorite spot in the house during awake time is the bathroom on her changing pad. She can spend up to 30 minutes just laying there kicking her legs and swinging her arms and looking at her mobile. She just loves it!! It is quite hilarious.
3) Her fussiest time is at night from 7-9pm. She just seems to want CONSTANT movement, so no sitting for mom and dad. It is a great time to have her in the Ergo or Moby.
4) She loves hearing our voices, and singing will immediately quiet her down. She especially enjoyed Christmas carols, which made us refresh our memories on the exact words to many of them.
5) She loves her breastfeeding time (obviously), but what is so cute is how she works herself into an excited frenzy before she eats. She lays on her boppy near her mommy's breast and just starts grunting and kicking her legs like a little jackrabbit. It is like her dad before Thanksgiving, only she does it 8+ times a day...
6) In the past week she has started taking bottles from her dad which is very exciting for him. We are trying to get her ready for mom's return to work this Wednesday. She will be working once a week for awhile, and daddy will get some alone time with his girl.
7) She is starting to consistently smile throughout the day, and usually will give a nice big dimply smile as she is awaking from a nap (getting ready for feeding I think). Speaking of her dimples, she has them on both sides but they only come out on the biggest smiles. So they are certainly special dimples because they don't just come out any old time. They also may be the only distinguishing features from her mom right now.
8) She really looks like her daddy when he was a baby. Her eyebrows, eyelashes and new hair coming in are all very blonde. She also makes facial expressions just like her dad. She does one where she wrinkles up her eyebrows and it is on the a spot on impersonation of her dad.
9) She has become quite the spitter upper. I think her spews would rival that of some of her male counterparts. About every other day she will do a huge one in the morning that will come out of both nostrils and her mouth. Usually right after she has put on fresh clothes for the day. The funny part is that it doesn't faze her at all. Neither do the explosive poops that run up her back. Yet...
10) She loves to stare at light and bright, contrasting colors. She has spent about an hour today staring at her mommy's new Michigan t-shirt. Go Blue!
Don't you just love those toothy smiles! Ryan and I were laughing at Jules last night as she just grinned at us!
